Editorial policy.
How editorial decisions are made at VerdictLabX — and how they are kept separate from commercial considerations.
How editorial decisions are made
Every ranking on VerdictLabX begins with a written, weighted rubric published internally before testing starts. The rubric defines the scope of the ranking (price range, product type, geography) and the weighted criteria used to score candidates. Weights total 100% and cannot be changed after testing begins.
Rankings are decided by the editor assigned to the category. For picks labeled Best Overall, Budget Pick, or Premium Pick, at least one additional editor reviews the ranking before publication. Ties are resolved in favor of the option with better long-term reliability signals (warranty length, parts availability, published durability testing).
Separation of editorial and commercial
VerdictLabX's editorial team has no visibility into which products currently carry affiliate programs or which retailer partnerships are active. Affiliate links are added by a separate operations team after rankings are finalized. No editor has a financial incentive tied to the choice of one product over another.
Correction policy
When a factual error is confirmed, the article is updated, and a correction note is added to the bottom of the article with the date, what changed, and (where applicable) who flagged the error. Quiet edits to rankings or factual claims are not permitted.
Update commitment
Every article is reviewed and updated when: (1) a new competing product enters the market, (2) pricing changes by more than 10%, (3) user feedback identifies a factual error, or (4) 12 months have passed since the last review. Our sitemap's <lastmod> value is updated on every substantive revision.
Reader feedback
Verified reader corrections are welcome. Email [email protected] with the article URL and the specific claim you believe is incorrect.
